Mercury is in retrograde through the sign of Aquarius at the moment. It started on Sun, Jan 11. For those of you who are astrologically inclined, like I am, you know what this means: disruptions in communications, problems with printers, phones, computers…and if you noticed your internet slowing down, that too J. Since Mercury is the planet that rules communication and technology, its retrograde means you will be experiencing minor ‘difficulties’ with those things in your life.
But Mercury in retrograde through Aquarius is even more messy. Aquarius is a sign of freedom loving, embracing camaraderie, expansion and reaching out to others. Obviously a retrograde in communication coupled with expansion does not bode well. So pay attention to how you relate to others these days, make sure you don’t get too frustrated by things that are slowing down (‘why did she NOT answer my email? What’s taking her so long?’) especially when relating to other human beings. They are all affected by the astrological movements just as much as you are J.
So if it seems like things are messy and you just ‘can’t get through’ to others, don’t worry. It’s good old Mercury at play here, and he’s not playing well with others today J. In mythology Mercury is the Roman name for the Greek god Hermes, a mischievous smarty pants god who loved to push the buttons of the more powerful gods, just to see if he could get away with it. So you can expect every transition that Mercury makes through other signs to be not just difficult, but playful as well. Use that playfulness to your advantage, and don't take the miscommunication that might come up too seriuosly, after all, they will only last so long. In the end, nothing is as serious as we thing, anyway. The things and relationships in our lives are only as serious as we are, after all J
